Grow a Garden 2 pets: the full list with prices & abilities
There is no pet shop in the sequel — Grow a Garden 2 pets spawn as wandering critters on the map with a countdown and a price, hatch from special eggs, or arrive as Guild rewards. This database lists all 36 pets with rarity, price, spawn chance and ability, cross-checked against the community wiki. Prices are direct buy prices in Sheckles or Leaves — not Grow a Garden 1 trade values, which do not apply to this game.
All Grow a Garden 2 pets
Spawn chances and prices are the community wiki's figures; abilities match across the wiki and independent guides. Four pets have genuinely disputed prices (sources split by up to 3x), shown as ranges and explained under the table. Egg-only pets have no map price — their "price" is the egg's odds.

* Disputed prices. For the Monkey, Golden Dragonfly, Unicorn and Raccoon, the community wiki's prices and the guide sites' prices differ by a factor of three, while their spawn chances agree exactly (the Unicorn's 0.71% appears in both). We show the full range rather than choose — if you meet one of these spawns, the price floating over it in game is the one that counts. Two smaller source conflicts, for the record: the wiki lists a 20,000,000 Sheckle figure next to the Guild-reward dragons where guides simply say "Guild reward", and the Black Dragon's ability is described by the wiki as eating ripe fruit and laying eggs, while guides describe fire-breathing thief defense. We flag both instead of silently picking one.
Worked example — the first-buy path. Start with a Frog (10,000) or Bunny (20,000) for movement, then save for the Deer at 50,000: at 10% faster growth on every crop, it is the only early pet that increases income. After that the maths is simple division — if your garden earns about 100,000 Sheckles a day, a 4,000,000-Sheckle Unicorn at the low end of its range is roughly 40 days of saving, which is why most players grab the Golden Dragonfly or Unicorn only when a spawn appears while they already hold the cash. Pets appear on a timer, so a spawn you cannot afford is a spawn you watch leave: save first, hunt second.
Playing the original Grow a Garden?
The first game's pets hatch from eggs on a 10-minute shop rotation and trade in a token economy with completely different values — the GAG 1 Raccoon is not this Raccoon. Use the Grow a Garden value list and our per-pet pages (such as the Dragonfly value page) for that game, and check any swap in the trade calculator. Never price a sequel pet with original-game numbers.
Big, Mega and Rainbow: the variant rolls
Any pet can roll variants that multiply its ability. Size and Rainbow roll independently, so the same spawn can be both — a Rainbow Mega is the jackpot version of any pet on the list above.
| Variant | Chance | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Big | ~1 in 50 | Double size, ability boosted 2x |
| Mega | ~1 in 1,000 | Four times the size, ability boosted 3x |
| Rainbow | 0.5% per egg (100% from Rainbow eggs) | Flat 1.25x ability boost, rolled separately from size |
What that means in practice, using the wiki's variant table: a normal Unicorn doubles Rainbow chance (x2). A Big Unicorn pushes that to x3, a Mega to x4, and a Rainbow Mega to x4.75. Variants are also why two "identical" pets are not equal — check the variant before you compare any two pets, in this game or when watching spawns for friends.
Halloween exclusives
The community wiki also lists a Halloween set, most tied to the Exclusive Halloween Egg. Documentation on this set is thinner than the main roster — several entries still lack a confirmed obtain method — so treat this table as a sighting list, not gospel, and expect it to change as the event runs.
| Pet | Rarity | How to get | Ability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gargoyle | Common | Exclusive Halloween Egg | Sits still over your garden; chance to turn a thief to stone |
| Ghost Dog | Common | Not yet documented | Turns you into a ghost for 30 seconds every 5 minutes |
| Skeleton Horse | Uncommon | Exclusive Halloween Egg | Hunts and kills skeletons for you |
| Black Cat | Uncommon | Not yet documented | Makes Gold and Rainbow rarer on your plants, but rarer wild animals start showing up |
| Black Crow | Rare | Not yet documented | Hoots every 60 seconds; each hoot draws a wild animal onto the map |
| Dire Wolf | Legendary | Exclusive Halloween Egg | A stronger Wolf — bigger moon pack, 3% chance to summon a Blood Moon |
| Bat | Legendary | Not yet documented | Bites fruit thieves and drops them for 2 seconds |
| Frank | Mythic | Exclusive Halloween Egg | When lightning strikes your fruit, it chains to 3 more fruit every 90 seconds |
| Vampire Fox | Mythic | Not yet documented | Steals a seed from another garden at night, like the Fox |
| Tarantula | Mythic | Not yet documented | Webs anyone who robs or hits you, forcing an item drop (once every 5 minutes) |
| Mummy | Super | Not yet documented | Curses wild pets server-wide: 1% chance you receive a copy, up to 5 a day |
| Centipede | Secret | Not yet documented | Night stealing, bites thieves until they drop your fruit, +5 walk speed |
Halloween in the original game is a different event entirely — for that one, see our Grow a Garden Halloween event hub. The sequel's event pets live only on this page, because the two games' data never mixes here.
Grow a Garden 2 pets FAQ
How do you get pets in Grow a Garden 2?
Most pets spawn as wandering critters on the map with a visible countdown timer and a price in Sheckles or Leaves — buy one before the timer runs out and it vanishes. Others hatch from eggs such as the Sugar Egg or the Exclusive Harvest Egg, come from chests, or are earned as Guild rewards (Ice Serpent, Black Dragon, Phoenix).
Is there a pet shop in Grow a Garden 2?
No. Grow a Garden 2 has no pet shop and no rotating egg shop like the original game. Pets are found on the map, in eggs and chests, or through Guild rewards — which is why spawn chances matter more than shop timers here. Shop restocks still matter for seeds and gear: see the GAG 2 stock tracker.
What is the rarest pet in Grow a Garden 2?
By map spawn chance, the Shadow Dragon — the community wiki puts its spawn rate at about 0.00464%, roughly 1 in 21,500 spawns. The Kitsune is the roster's Secret-rarity pet, available only from the Exclusive Fall Chest or Exclusive Harvest Egg. Guild-reward pets such as the Ice Serpent are limited by leaderboard placement instead of spawn odds.
Are Grow a Garden 2 pet values the same as Grow a Garden 1?
No — and this trips up a lot of players. The sequel's pets are bought directly for Sheckles or Leaves at the prices on this page; there is no trade-token value list like the original game's, and a Grow a Garden 1 pet with the same name (the Raccoon is the famous example) is a different pet in a different economy. Never price a GAG 2 pet with GAG 1 numbers.
What do Big, Mega and Rainbow pet variants do in Grow a Garden 2?
Variants multiply the pet's ability. A Big pet (about a 1 in 50 roll) is twice the size with a 2x ability boost. A Mega pet (about 1 in 1,000) is four times the size with a 3x boost. Rainbow is rolled separately and adds a flat 1.25x ability boost — most eggs give it a 0.5% chance, while dedicated Rainbow eggs are always Rainbow. Size and Rainbow roll independently, so a Rainbow Mega exists.
Which Grow a Garden 2 pet should I buy first?
The Deer, at 50,000 Sheckles. Its +10% growth speed applies to everything you plant, so it pays for itself faster than any other early pet. Frog (10,000) and Bunny (20,000) are cheap movement starters, and the first big save should usually be the Golden Dragonfly or Unicorn — the mutation-chance doublers — once your garden earns enough to justify them.
Where this data comes from
Data sources: the roster, spawn chances, prices and variant table come from the Grow a Garden 2 community wiki on Fandom (Pets page, checked October 20, 2026), cross-checked against allthings.how's pets guide, GameRant's pets guide and ggwtb's tier list — abilities agree across all of them, and the four price conflicts are flagged in the table rather than hidden. Where the wiki itself is still a stub (parts of the Halloween set), we say so on the page. These are buy prices for the sequel only — no Grow a Garden 1 trade values are used anywhere on this page. Our full method is on How We Calculate, and the hub for everything sequel is the Grow a Garden 2 wiki.
